In 1992 I took my first pottery class at Fairmont State College in Fairmont, WV. I thought I would hate the class. I was so wrong! From the moment I sat at the potter's wheel I knew I was in love. Now, the relationship was rocky at first. It took weeks and weeks of trial and error for me to even get clay centered on the wheel correctly. I was determined to make it work and with the help of my instructor Paul Latos I eventually made some pieces that I was proud of in those two semesters. After a long break from the wheel between college and my getting hired as the Art teacher at Harding Academy in Memphis, TN I was able to rekindle my love affair with clay and begin to find my own voice. The galleries below are some of my most recent work.
TeapotsTeapots are one of the most challenging pieces that a potter can create. The combination of body, lid, spout and handle all require different skills that are acquired over time.

MugsMugs are the staple piece for most potters. There are hundreds if not thousands of possible body and handle combinations. You'll see a few my take on a few of these in this gallery.

VariousThere are so many different things that can be made from clay. The possibilities are endless and this is one of the characteristics of ceramic ware that draws me to it.
